Mechanical Project Engineer
Primary in-house resource for technical operations, including system design, performance modeling, managing outside consultants, and utility coordination for innovate developer of megawatt-plus solar energy systems with a focus on ground-mounted projects in the northeast and landfills/brownfields nationwide.
DUTIES: design commercial-sized PV system (plus energy storage) layouts for proposals, create Single-Line/3-Line Diagram, and prepare Interconnection Application for utility submittals; manage utility interconnection process, oversee interconnection portfolio across multiple utilities and services territories, lead projects through key interconnection related development milestones, and minimize interconnection critical path delays; perform Value Engineering for project feasibility evaluation including site visits, utility Impact Study & Detailed Study interpretation, production model generation (using Helioscope/PVSyst), and financial analysis per buyer standards; review system designs for projects with approved products, and work with manufacturers to evaluate/design using non-approved products appropriately; develop design standards on product selection and design process, based on evaluation of product specification/quality/reliability, and equipment supplier credibility; engineering project management track costs, deliverables, and milestones; and communicate design concepts and lead meetings between clients, project engineers, code officials and third party consultants. Travel required: work at unanticipated client sites nationwide (0-10%).
REQUIREMENTS: Masters degree in Mechanical or Solar Engineering or related field. Two years of experience as Mechanical/Solar Engineer or related involving commercial or utility solar project design. Skill set/knowledge must include Helioscope, AutoCAD, PVSyst, Microsoft Office software; solar energy and sustainability; NABCEP and PMP certification; relevant codes (NEC, IBC). Travel required: work at unanticipated client sites nationwide (0-10%). Will only consider applications from US Workers (e.g., US Citizen, Lawful Permanent Residents).
